Hi, Dr. Rueter and Dr. Simpson,
I just wanted to drop you a line about the work we have been doing with our sweet, neurotic Duncan these past few months. It has been transformative! Dr. Rueter, I know that you were looking for feedback about our experience with Canine Trainer and Behavior Modification Specialist, Donna Chandler, so I hope this offers some insights.
We had one session with Donna at her training facility that both Dale and I attended. Donna keyed into Duncan’s off-the-charts anxiety immediately and worked from there to show us how to engage with him in ways that make him feel safe and, thus, mitigate the crazy we deal with every day.
Not only did we leave feeling as though we understood Duncan a whole lot better, we left equipped to implement simple changes to modify his behavior. I think our best testimonial comes from our HVAC guy, who endures the wrath of Duncan (reserved for all unknown men in uniforms who come to the house) semi-annually. He could not believe that Duncan was the same dog. Duncan did not go crazy at the door, and trotted quietly and happily by his side as he moved through the house. This is a major quality of life improvement for all of us!
One big help has been the Monday morning phone calls Donna encourages. I call with new concerns, any confusion that arises while implementing changes, or anything new I observe. She provides clear and specific suggestions for me to implement and report back on. It has been an evolution, but a good one! I know that I can call Donna any Monday morning, should the need arise. This has been great!
I have recommended Donna to others, and they report similar success. I would not hesitate to suggest her as an option for those struggling with doggy behavioral issues.
I will see you soon for Duncan’s annual check up. Hopefully you, too, will notice the improvement!
